Day trips from Tunbridge Wells, across the Weald and within 15 minutes of The Brown Trout in Lamberhurst, lies conveniently placed in the middle of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within easy reach of some of the most outstanding scenery in the south east of England.
Lamberhurst Vineyard was founded in the early seventies, making it one of the oldest vineyards from the revival of British viticulture. Stretching across twenty acres, the Lamberhurst Vineyard is a attractive place to visit just for the wonderful scenery and views on top of the opportunity to learn about English wine making.
The vineyards are a few minutes walk from the Brown Trout and are open all year round, although it is more attractive place during the growing season. The vineyard offers wonderful views of Bayham Abbey and Lamberhurst village, and tours usually end in a tasting session of the wonderful wines made from the Ortegam, rondo, bacchus, pinot noir and rondo grow here.
Set in the heart of the Weald, views from the lamberhurst vineyard are wonderful in every direction. Set in Lamberhurst village, the vineyards are also within easy reach of Tunbridge Wells.
The somewhat unusual orientation of the vines, with north facing positions means that the harvest ripens two or three weeks later than the typical south facing arrangement of English vineyards. Importantly, this keeps the frost damage to a minimum early on in the growing season. |
